Devil’s Peak
In the early hours of Monday morning I woke up with a heavy smell of smoke filling the air. I couldn’t spot any fires outside, but the night sky was shrouded in a thick haze. Apparently the fires are in the Helderberg area, which is about 45 km from where we live. I can only imagine how thick the smoke must be there.
On 8 December 2008 fires were raging in the Gordons Bay area, which is about 55km from here. I took this picture of a hazy Devil’s Peak from our house on that morning.
