Rage

On 27 January 2006 a galeforce South Easter was blowing in Cape Town, when a carelessly discarded sigaret butt started a fire on Table Mountain. Within seconds the fire was out of control, running wild in the direction of Devils Peak. I couldn’t sleep at all that night – too scared our house would be engulfed. The Fire Brigade did an excellent job of keeping the blaze away from the houses in Oranjezicht. However, it took more than a week to get the fire under control. It was a scary experience. One that we will never forget.
