Solar eclipse
2009 is the Year of Astronomy, and in a fitting way a partial solar eclipse was visible from South Africa on 26 January 2009. In Cape Town the 65 % eclipse could best be seen at approximately 08:15. So this image is hot off the press. I do not have any specialist equipment, but with the use of a double layer of tea-bag foil managed to get a few shots. Not great, but for me it is about celebrating being witness to this special phenomenon.
