Icy escargot

While raquetting to Lac du Mont Cenis in France, I tripped and this “icy snail” was formed from a bit of snow that rolled away. After photgraphing this strange phenomenon, I tried to create more ice snails by simulating the move, but to no avail. The picture was taken on 26 April 2005.
