Old Man’s Beard

This picture was taken on 9 August 2005 while hiking in the Kalk Bay-Muizenberg mountains. Many people living in Cape Town are not aware of the 67 caves that can be explored in these mountains. We explored about four or five during our hike, but more about that another day. I think this picture of “Old Man’s Beard”, a lichen, was taken near Robin Hood Cave, although I cannot say for sure. It was a magical day of hiking and “caving” and definitely an area that we would like to explore again in future.
