Pinnacle Rock
This picture of Pinnacle Rock was taken on 20 August 2007 in the Cobham Nature Reserve in the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park. We were hiking the 18 km Emerald Stream trail and were just about to turn around, when we finally reached the plateau which took us to Pinnacle Rock. One wonders just how exactly these enormous boulders ended up where they did. Emerald Stream is a beautiful route and we saw a number of Eland and plenty of baboons en route. We got a bit lost trying to find the alternative circular route around the base of Ndlovini, and eventually had to turn around to follow the recommended route back via Emerald Stream. We got back to Cobham 30 minutes before the gates were to close. Maybe one day we’ll go back to do the circular route, if we can find it.
